Novalis Branch

NOVALIS BRANCH OF THE ANTHROPOSOPHICAL SOCIETY Inc.

The Novalis Branch is on the land of the Gumbaynggirr People; Gumbaynggirr language is part of a living culture since the yuludarla – the dreaming. Country is not defined by boundaries delineated on maps, but through relationships, lived experiences and songlines. The custodianship of Gumbaynggirr People spans 80km of beaches, headlands, rivers, estuaries, creeks, mountains and flood plains - an area now known as ‘the mid north coast’ – from Nambucca to the Clarence River and west to the Great Dividing Range. We pay our respect to the Ancestors, the Elders past and present.

Rudolf Steiner describes Anthroposophy as ‘… a path of knowledge, which intends to lead what is spiritual in the human being to what is spiritual in the universe’. The Novalis Branch is dedicated to providing a public face for Anthroposophy in our region and beyond, and to consolidate the many rich offerings we can individually and collaboratively make available.

Novalis: Rudolf Steiner describes the significance of Elias as an individual who set before us the goal and destiny of all humankind. Steiner traces how this individuality reincarnated at the turning point in time, as Lazarus-John, to be initiated by Christ Himself and representing the evolution of humanity, to then appear as the artist, Raphael. Raphael revealed through colour and form the spiritual nature and being of Christianity and the Mystery of Golgotha. ‘What Raphael had placed before humanity in colours and forms of rarest loveliness’ [Steiner, Ga 238], this impulse arises as word, and ‘stands revealed in wondrously beautiful words’ in the works of the poet Novalis.

The Novalis Branch aspires to work in the consciousness of this impulse out of Social Threefolding. For activities of the Novalis Branch and associated groups please see: Calendar of Events & Journal
